Here is a guide on how to reinstate your lapsed Professional Educator License (PEL):

https://www.isbe.net/Documents/How-to-Reinstate-Your-PEL-CTE.pdf

Step 1: Log into your ELIS account at isbe.net

Step 2: Update your Professional Development / Employment status by following this guide: click here

Step 3: Ensure you have completed the required professional development (PD) and/or administrator academies required by viewing the "Professional Development" tab in ELIS.

  • If you need to enter PD you have completed, follow this guide: click here
  • If you need to complete additional PD, select PD from an approved provider: click here
    • Kane ROE has PD opportunities and is an approved provider: click here

Step 4: After the required PD has been met, you may reinstate your license. (Click here for a guide) Click "Home" at the top left corner and select "Reinstatements".

Step 5: Answer each of the background questions as they apply to you. The last question must be answered "Yes" as this verifies you have answered the background questions truthfully. When finished, click "Next".

Step 6: To reinstate your license, you must pay a $50 reinstatement fee OR have completed nine semester hours of coursework within the last five years in the area(s) aligning with your endorsement area (and submit transcripts proving so, click here for a guide on how to submit transcripts).

Step 7: Select a primary region in which you would like to register your license in. Kane County is region 31. Then click "Next".

Step 8: Answer the two questions as they apply to you. Once you answer "Yes" to both questions, the "Submit Payment" button will appear. Select "Submit Payment" to enter your card information on the next screen if you are paying the $50 reinstatement fee. If you select the nine semester hours of coursework option, then the fee amount will be $0.00.

Step 9: Once you submit payment information, a confirmation page will state you have successfully renewed and registered your license.

If you'd like a copy of your renewed license, select the "My Credentials" tab. If you do not see your endorsements on this page, click "select" next to your PEL. Finally, select your computer's print option and print the page or save it to your computer. This serves as a copy of your license.
