Apply for CTE License

Below are the steps to obtaining a Career and Technical Educator (CTE) License:

Step 1:

Create an ELIS account if you do not already have one.

If you have an ELIS account and cannot log in, please contact the ELIS technology department at 217-558-3600 and select option 2.

Step 2:

Request official transcripts from your university be sent to Kane ROE transcripts@kaneroe.org

Step 3:

Complete the work experience 73-23A form (or 73-23B form if the previous employer cannot be reached). The top half of the form is for you to fill out, and the bottom half is for your previous employer to fill out. The employer should send the completed form to licensure@kaneroe.org. The top of the form provides an ISBE email which is acceptable to use, but it usually takes the state a few weeks to process the form.

Step 4:

To complete this step, you must have a school district interested in hiring you as a CTE teacher.

Complete the 73-23 form. The top half of the form is for you to fill out, and the bottom half is for your hiring school district to fill out. At the very top, check the box that says “Career and Technical Educator (CTE)”. In part 1 where you are prompted to “list specific career and technical educator program title(s),” please click here and use this document to select up to 3 career programs. Select programs that best align with your education/work history. Again, send the completed form to licensure@kaneroe.org.

Step 5:

Apply for the Career and Technical Educator (CTE) License. The state will review your application and documents, this may take a few weeks.

Step 6:

You can check the status of your application on your ELIS account. You will either have the license issued to you or you will receive a deficiency letter outlining what more you must complete to obtain the license.

Step 7:
